The disturbing thing is that everyone in power seems committed to not moving on the environment. The BBC news coverage on this issue is really good but also hard to listen to. Al Gore seems to have raised everybody's consciousness except the politicians. So now we know we're devastating the oceans, the polar ice caps, the rain forests, etc., but the logging companies and oil companies are being allowed to do it anyway.
At this point, they're essentially self "regulating," funding political campaigns and helping to write legislation that favors them.
